Getting humbled, one way or another

Winter Hiking January 3, 2011

Living in the Grand Valley is great for multi-sport activities. On Christmas Eve I was trail running, then skiing on Christmas Day. Powderhorn got nailed with a storm that dropped about 20″ so the skiing has been great. The snow hit the Grand Valley as well throwing GJ drivers into the typical tailspin. Good business for the tow companies.

The snow makes the redrock canyons even more beautiful. Here are some pictures from hiking yesterday in Devil’s Canyon.

Beautiful blue sky

Snow covered cactus

The old cabin at the end of the loop

Probably not the best thing to deface government property…but at least they picked a great verse! It says, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed within us. Romans 8:18”

Some old stuff in the cabin

Snow feathers!

We had to skedaddle out of there as the sun had gone down and it was getting pretty cold. The temperature when we arrived back at the car was a whopping 12.
